Under 30

Hi

Today is the 29th August 2013 and I went under the 30 Days.

It's not far until my last working day.

20 Days, but that is with off days, so its only 12 days left.

I have to say, I really haven't realized, that I am leaving the country in 29 days. I still have a lot to do, so I am trying not to think about it.
It's probably also the job. I know that as a crew-member, I could buy a staff ticket and go back home in my off days if I needed to.

So, what happened these days?

After the more or less "quiet" day :-) I continued scanning in the photos and I have to say, I got far. It doesn't look that bad anymore and I might be able to scan them all in. We will still leave the pictures with our parents and when we come to visit we will take some with us. I don't wanna use 40 KG just for pictures :-)

That evening my Brother in law came over with his wife and we went for dinner.

Healthy food

Ok, that was the sarter :-)

This was the more or less unhealthy main course, but it was really really good :-)

A typical German Schnitzel

Some guys might think...."this looks like an egg on that Schnitzel" :-) NO, that was melted sheep´s cheese with tomato hollandaise sauce

Yeah. A lot of calories, but it was really good and who cares? :-)

Wednesday again was one of the days were nothing happend. Why? Because I spent the whole day going back to Berlin. Great! And I needed to take the Train again. Deutsche Bahn :-((

This brings me to today.

I got up at 07:00 and went to the Docter. No I am not sick, just another vaccination shot. Again into my  left and right arm :-(.

At 11:40 I was at the Airport checking in for my short day flying

Berlin - Corfu - Berlin
Berlin - Venice - Berlin

Landing in Corfu was 14:54 and at 15:45 we were already flying back to Berlin. Not even an hour on the ground and the weather was really nice with 32 degrees Celsius.

So back in Berlin, lets see how the weather is in Dubai?

At 8 o´clock in the evening nice and warm. 36 degrees Celsius.

After 40 minutes we were on our way to Venice and after 1,5 hours flight time, we spotted Venice.

Again, after 40 minutes on the ground we flew back to Berlin, went home, watched some Tv and off to bed.

see ya guys

more or less a quiet day

Hey

Yesterday I got up at 7:00 to take the train home, because the day before I missed my train and that was not the fault of the Train Company  Deutsche Bahn :-)

DeutscheBahn Kopie

Oh the Train Company, good point. Why haven´t they made it into the Internet age? To and from Berlin there is no Internet available ever though it shows on the computer, but is disabled........for 2 years now, or was it never activated :-)

So after 6 hours I was home and shortly after that our Insurance Agent arrived. The bad news....we are canceling all our insurances because of the emigration. He was really nice, said he would get everything done and contact us again via email.
He didn´t stay very long.

One coffee :-)

Normally the Insurance stuff always took longer :-)

After the gentlemen left the house, we spoke about what to to tomorrow and then we finally started cooking. Salad with Chicken and as Desert some Fruits.

After the nice Dinner we put some stuff on Ebay we are trying to sell. Hopefully that works :-)

Later that evening I started scanning my pictures and I can tell you....It´s not going to work in the next 4 weeks.....too much pictures :-) We need to leave some with our parents.

After 200 pictures I was getting tired and the day was over for me :-)

See ya

Missed my Train

Hi At the Moment I am in an altitude of 35.000 Feet, dat is around 10668 Meters,

  25 8

in front of us is the City of Innsbruck. We are on our way to Sardinia to the city of Cagliari. That was not planned :-(. Yesterday and today I had Homestandby from 03:30 until 11:30. Yesterday they called around 09:00 to do a flight, but 20 minutes later they cancelled and I could stay home. Today I didn´t make it :-). They called me at 09:30 to do this flight. I was planning on going home today, because we still have to do some stuff before the the move to Dubai. I will be back in Berlin around 18:45, so I can take a train around 19:15 and that would mean I will be home around 2:00 at night. To make a long story short :-) ....I will just take the train tomorrow at 9:00 and then be home at 14:00.

A quick weather update from today 18:00 Berlin time and 20:00 Dubai time :-)

  Flughafen25 8

This wednesday we have to get rid of the electronic junk we don´t need anymore, like a broken fridge and a 13 year old microwave oven. I mean who keeps stuff like that :-) I am going to try and start scanning in those photographs and let´s see how far I get :-) We have a lot of CD´s we need to sell, so that is going to happen in the next days and we are going to sell our living room furniture as well. Tomorrow I need to call the Cargo Company in Frankfurt and get an appointment for the Cargo. If everything goes like we want it to be, then our 200 Kg should fly right after me, that would give me some time to clear the cargo through customs in Dubai and bring it to our Apartment before the course starts.

So that´s all folks

 for now

5 weeks

Hi

at the moment I am in a cruising altitude of 38000 feet, thats around 11582 meters. On my right side is the City of Budapest. We are on our way back to Berlin and we have just been in Athens.

4 weeks to go, then it´s good bye Berlin. I will move out of my apartment and one final time I will drive back to our place. I have about 1 week before going to Frankfurt, where my flight leaves. I will spend this time with my wife, because I will not see her for 2 and a half months. A lot of people ask me if I thought about what I am about to do. My answer to that will always be the same. I got a job offer I couldn´t refuse.
There has to be a little adventure, otherwise you might not decide to move, but hey, if you never tried it, you don´t know if it was the right thing. To make it short :-) “Live your Life”

My best friend Julien is moving down there with his family as well. Which means they and of course we will not be alone. He is going to the same Company and the same Aircraft Type. That means we have to study for the next 3 months but it´s worth it.

If you want to have a look at Juliens Blog, here is the Link

His wife Anne is a successful beauty blogger. She started in switzerland a few years ago and she is going to continue with her blog in Dubai.

For the ladies....if you wanna have a look at her blog, here is the link

So whats going to be next? I need to go the the UAE embassy once again and get our birth certificates validated. Next week my next Hepatitis vaccination shot is coming up and on the 3rd of September I have the Yellow Fever shot.

We still haven´t figured out what to take with us. It is our life shrinked down to 200 Kg. We know it is going to be personal items but we have a lot of Pictures from the time before the digital cameras. I was thinking of scanning them all, but that might take forever. :-(

If anybody has a really good idea concerning the pictures, please leave a comment:-)

until next time

Ok not really 2 weeks :-)

Hi,

In my last post I said it will be two weeks. Ok.....it has been 4 weeks now :-) but a lot happend in those 4 weeks. I canceled my apartment near Berlin ans started to clean up my basement. I already went to the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, paid 40€ and got our mariage certificate certified.

Yesterday i was sitting on the train towards our main apartment. This weekend we had a lot of things planed. Saturday we had a small party. It was kinda strange because a lot of or friends asked questions about the move to Dubai. I said I don't even realize whats going on. It is only around 40 days but there are so any things to do.

Sunday was the day were we started to clean up our basement. Man,  how much stuff did we keep :-)
And the whole stuff again next week.

In my small apartment near Berlin I am finshed so far. Friends bought almost everything accept the dining table. Thanks guys :-)

If you think about it, it is a strange feeling to sell all your belongings and reduce everything up to 200 Kg. Why 200 Kg?  Thats the free cargo we get from my new Employer. There is not much left, only minor important personal items. Some stuff we will keep with our family and then when we come for a visit we might take some stuff with us again.

What's planed until sunday? Tuesday it goes back towards Berlin and then 5 days of work. My last working day will be the 18th September. If I think about it, it's a strange feeling because its not even 50 days anymore and there are so many things still to do.

In 6 weeks the post will be from Dubai then. :-)

Until the next days.

Emotional weekend

Hi

I didn't manage to call Sky Television so I have to do that next week. :-)
What happened the last days?

Tuesday, July 2, 2013

The Stress begins :-)

Hi

It´s amazing that normally when you hear 90 Days you think that this is a long time.
If you ask me now, I hope I get everything done in this time :-)

Why?

After work I wrote several Contract terminations for Insurance Company's, Sky Television and the German Telekom today.

After finishing I thought, let´s start with Telekom and give them a call, maybe they can give you some Information how to speed up things a little.

I have to say I thought this would be much easier! I started explaining my situation to the lady on the Phone when all Hell broke loose :-)
After she finished screaming at me what I was thinking to ask such stupid questions she started explaining that I signed a contract which is still running for the next 18 Months and I have to pay. It doesn´t matter if I make up things just to get out of the contract. Ok :-) I told her I have proof. I have my new working contract with a specific date on it and 2 weeks before I leave, I will tell the Authorities and they will give me a letter that I canceled my apartment and I am moving out of the Country.
Her answer was simple, she didn´t care :-) ok.

I asked another question, but that was not a good idea!

If she would provide me with a letter saying that the German Telekom will then give me full Cellphone coverage down in Dubai and then I will be willing to pay the rest of the 18 Months, otherwise I would be paying for something, Telekom cannot give me according the contract and that would be fraud.

Ohhhhhh..... She went off like a Wild Dog again :-) then she hung up!

Hello? Hello? somebody there?

No

Wow Customer Service :-)

But it would not be me if I wouldn't call again, knowing I will get another person on the phone.

Said and done!

This time a guy answered the phone. I explained the whole story again, this time he said it would not be easy but it is possible. The best way would be if I pay off the iPhone 5, because I got it cheaper with the contract. If that helps I will do that :-)

I asked the guy if I pay the money right away, I think he said 400 Euros, thats the difference to the new iPhone 5, when will it be unblocked? Because In Germany every Phone provider blocks the phones for 2 years so they only work with that company.

It took him a few seconds to think but then he said: "unblocked? It will be unblocked in 18 Months when the contract ends".

Ok? What is the purpose of paying of a phone to get out of a contract, to take the phone to Dubai, if I need to wait 18 Months to unblock it. I will just buy a new phone down there. So thats exactly what I told him.

I don´t know if those people get a lesson in screaming and bad behavior but he went mental as well :-)

Well I didn´t get my answer, I learned that this could be a long and hard road with the German Telekom, but at least I had my fun today :-)

Maybe tomorrow will be a fun and exciting day again. After work I need to call Sky Television and see if I can get out of my Cable Television Contract. Lets see if they go mental as well :-) Probably, Ha Ha :-)

Until then hope you have a good night

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

The Beginning....

This is going to be my first post in this Blog "Emigration and Living in Dubai"

Picture is from Emirates.com
I decided to take the 1st of July 2013 as an opportunity to write my first post, because I am leaving Germany in 90 days. My wife has another 90 days left, she will move to Dubai when most of the things are sorted out in Dubai.

I will try to write some interesting things that happen in those 90 days, but also the first months in Dubai and hopefully many more posts.

To shortly explain what happened in the past. I applied with my new employer in february, they invited me in march for an assessment center, at the end of april I got the Ok that I was successful and 9 days ago I signed my contract. From now on, an interesting time is going to start :-).

So what happened already?

I resigned from my job and from my apartment. We were one of those couples that had 2 apartments because we were not able to find a job in the same city and we only saw each other every 5 days, so that is going to change :-).

What is planed?

A lot :-)

Now we have to start selling things like the car, furniture..........What are we taking with us to Dubai?
We just started telling our friends so we haven't realized what is happening or what is going to happen in the next 90 days. I think this will come later on and then I probably have to cry :-)

Well thats it for the beginning

I am happy to receive comments :-)
